12 / Cylindrical camera sequence

Scroll is the director.

One progress value steers a cylinder of original visual panels, a camera path and its chapter typography. Inspect an analytical spin impulse without depending on scroll-event history.

Repeated panels form a single cylindrical surface. Each panel is an original geometric texture region.

CHAPTER 1 / READING VIEW

Repeated panels form a single cylindrical surface. Each panel is an original geometric texture region.

CHAPTER 2 / READING VIEW

Turn the perspective.

Scroll owns the camera and base rotation. A scrubbed analytical impulse adds an inspectable spin decay.

CHAPTER 3 / READING VIEW

Let the energy settle.

Particle displacement and rotation are derived from the same progress and impulse parameters, so reverse and direct entry remain reproducible.

What this study teaches

A software-projected cylinder samples an original procedural panel atlas. Document progress sets the camera path, base rotation and chapter selection. A closed-form exponentially decaying spin impulse derives rotation and particle energy from the same scrubbed time. This is a deterministic study of inertia, not a claim that live wheel velocity was measured.

Independent implementation informed by “How to Build Cinematic 3D Scroll Experiences with GSAP”, Joseph Santamaria, Codrops. This is newly authored code and artwork, not a recovered original project. Uses an original procedural atlas and a software-projected cylinder. It does not recover the omitted OGL/R3F helpers or reproduce the second source scene’s model. Spin decay is an explicit analytical exercise input rather than hidden live wheel history.
